Over the weekend, a few MDC’s and I had the privilege of attending the FICPA Educational Foundation’s annual 1040K. The proceeds of the event are awarded to African-American South Florida accounting students in memory of Miami-Dade’s first African-American CPA, Lewis Davis. The FICPA Educational Foundation goes to show that if you cannot directly give your knowledge to bright young individuals, you can certainly subsidize it! The FICPA Educational Foundation successfully provides opportunity and insight into accounting careers for passionate students. This race helps get the word out about this great organization and also supports physical fitness in the financial community.
Despite the inclement weather on Saturday, there was a great turn out at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne. My MDC’s and I were not going to let a few rain drops stop us from coming out to support such a great cause. It was nice to see that so many people had the heart to make it out to the run. I love participating in these races and I am so happy there are so many that benefit students and education.
Fins up and stay smart!
